Three Positions So Arsenal’s Main Focus in the January Transfer Market

Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta, revealed the main focus of his club in the transfer market this January. He said that there are three positions that need additional strength, one of which is the goalkeeper.

Last summer, Arsenal released Emiliano Martinez, who has been a player for 10 years. They then replaced him with a player from Iceland, Runar Alex Runarsson.

Runarsson himself was never recruited in the hope of serving as Bernd Leno’s deputy at goal. Initially, he was recruited to become the third goalkeeper under Martinez.

Three Positions are being Calculated
According to reports, Arsenal want to let him go to another club as a loan player in the transfer market this winter. But considering Matt Macey has left the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal clearly need a new goalkeeper.

Arteta admits that there are three positions in his squad that need additional strength. And the Spanish national man clearly mentions one of them.

“We are analyzing the situation with three positions, in the area of ​​the goalkeeper and we will find a different solution, maybe in this transfer market,” he said, as quoted by Metro.

“We are currently analyzing what will happen to the three positions. Our internal discussions last summer were a little different from what actually happened, because of the transfer market and the situation regarding Emi,” he continued.

Analyzing the Situation
Arteta also explained that his team had not negotiated with other clubs to recruit their target players, as has been reported. Because the analysis process itself is still ongoing until now.

“We don’t have much time to do what we want to do, and we decided to analyze the situation in this transfer market, namely what we want to do and will make decisions about how we want to move in these three positions,” he added.

Apart from goalkeepers, Arsenal are also often linked with creative players such as Emiliano Buendia and Julian Brandt. In fact, they were also rumored to be interested in former Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.
